I'm not so fat, but I'm definitely not PHAT! Good thing my husband loves me!
I am not an exerciser, and have never been. I have lofty goals when it comes to that.
I'm comfortable sharing this information now: My max weight was 150 pounds. Not too bad, but it is when you're only 5'5" tall. It's hard living in a world where the only female bodies the public sees are gorgeous, cellulite free, 5 foot 10 blonde women with not a flaw on their bodies. Isn't it understandable why a woman, who "lost" her body at age 19 would have a low self esteem when it comes to her body?
I am open with my kids. I want to make sure they know what normal really is. I'm not inappropriately open, just honest. I think I owe it to my daughters to have a realistic view of what they might look like someday, and to let my son see that it's okay for a woman to not be the world's definition of perfect. I think that aspect is what is most important to me. He sees my husband, his father, love me the way that I am. I hope when his wife has a baby and has gained a little weight and has a few stretchmarks that that's okay because she looks like that for him, for their children, and for herself.
I'll start keeping my blog more up to date. It is almost the beginning of another year, after all. I've got new goals to set, I've got new resolutions to make!
Oh, as for the 150, I'm 150 no more! With careful eating and conscious planning, I've lost 15 pounds. And it came off pretty quickly. I lost 12 in about a month, gained back 7, then lost 9. Not too shabby, I'd say!

Welcome to my P90X journey!!
I am a stay-at-home mom to four beautiful children. I am 31 years old and am ready to become a better, more fit version of myself.
Recently, my husband Chad and I were discussing what we can do to get into shape and I mentioned P90X. I have a couple of friends who I know use it, and probably a few more who I don't know of. We found an infomercial (Did you know there are entire channels on DirecTV devoted to infomercials??) and Chad and I decided to go for it and bought the P90X exercise program by BeachBody Fitness.
Now, I know that doing something is better than doing nothing at all (which is what I was doing), but I wanted something that had a timeline. I guess I'm the kind of person who needs a finish line. I DO NOT like to exercise, so I know I have to find the right fit. But don't get me wrong, I also know that I'll have to exercise for the rest of my life, not just 90 days. Don't we all wish!
So on February 1, 2010 (2 days from now) Chad and I will start P90X. We're waiting until Monday to start because the program works in weeks with a rest day on day 7, and we wanted our 'rest day' to be on Sunday. We've taken our "before" pictures (which I'm not quite brave enough to post yet) and we've taken our "before" measurements, which I'll post farther down on this post. I'm very excited to get started and I'm hoping this is the right fit for me.
Before I throw my support and recommend P90X to all of you, I need to try it for myself and also make sure you know some things about it.
1. P90X comes with only the exercise DVDs. Some of the routines require a pull-up bar, weights or resistance bands, and/or a yoga mat. BeachBody sells these things, but we hit up WalMart and got a nice Pull-Up bar there, along with weights and mats.
2. P90X comes with a food guide. Chad and I have chosen to go more the Body For Life route with our diets (6 small meals, one serving of protein, one serving of carb per meal) and we are eating unlimited fresh fruits and veggies.
3. P90X comes with a "Fit Test." These are guidelines that any person beginning P90X should be able to do. If you can't accomplish the requirements for P90X, BeachBody recommends building up to this Fit Test with a different exercise routine. I'll post the Fit Test requirements farther down. Just FYI, I could do all of the requirements but the pull-ups, so I'm proceeding with P90X.
Well, I guess now we get to the gory details!
These are my measurements (in inches)
Chest: 37 1/2
Waist: 33
Hips: 37 1/2
Butt: 42
R. Thigh: 24
L. Thigh: 24
R. Arm: 10 1/2
L. Arm: 11
These are the requirements for the Fit Test prior to starting P90X. I'll show the minimum requirement and then how many I did like this: theirs/mine
Pull-ups: 1/0
Vertical Leap: 3/4
Pushups (knees): 15/17
Toe touch (inches past toes): 0/+3
Wall Squat: 1:00/1:13
Bicep Curls (8 lbs.): 20/20
In & Outs: 25/25
2 minutes of Jumping Jacks
So that's that. I'll try to blog everyday to keep you posted and myself motivated!!
Also, if you have any additional questions, please feel free to contact me at Jocelyn.P90X@yahoo.com.
